Pumpkins!!!

Since it is now September, I can keep making cute fall decorations without feeling guilty. I was talking to my grandmother the other day and she told me to consider writing up some of my patterns and selling them. That sounds like an awesome idea, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for it yet. In preparation for my eventual pattern selling debut, I'm going to test it out here first! As always, finished items are available for sale on my Etsy (LizzyBeeHandmade)

Let's start with my favorite thing to make right now... PUMPKINS!!!!! Here is my pattern for making pumpkins :)

Supplies Needed: Crochet Hook (I used a size F/5 ), Stuffing, Tapestry Needle, Any weight in yarn

All three of the sizes shown have roughly the same pattern, the only difference is the yarn weight, amount of stuffing, and the number of segments made.

Basic Pumpkin Pattern

Chain 4 to make a ring
1. 6 sc into the ring
2. Sc in the back loop of each sc
3-5 sc in each sc across
Change colors
6. 2 sc in each sc (12)
7. 2sc in the same sc, 1 sc repeat across (18)
8. * 2sc in the same sc, sc in the next 2 sc* repeat (24)
9. * 2sc in the same sc, sc in the next 3 sc* repeat (30)
10. * 2sc in the same sc, sc in the next 4 sc* repeat (36)
11. * 2sc in the same sc, sc in the next 5 sc* repeat (42)
12. * 2sc in the same sc, sc in the next 6 sc* repeat (48)
13. * 2sc in the same sc, sc in the next 7 sc* repeat (54)
14. * 2sc in the same sc, sc in the next 8 sc* repeat (60)
15-23 sc in each sc
24. * decrease, sc in the next 8 sc* repeat (54)
25. * decrease, sc in the next 7 sc* repeat (48)
26. * decrease, sc in the next 6 sc* repeat (42)
27. * decrease, sc in the next 5 sc* repeat ( 36)
28. * decrease, sc in the next 4 sc* repeat (30)
29. * decrease, sc in the next 3 sc* repeat (24)

Stuff— not too tightly because you need to get a needle through it

30. * decrease, sc in the next 2 sc* repeat (18)
31. * decrease, sc in the next sc* repeat (12)
32. Decrease (6)
Bind off
Sew close and knot
Take needle up through the middle towards the stem and wrap around and go back through the original whole. Pull tight and repeat until there are the desired number of segments.

** Note- The firmer your pumpkin is stuffed, the less defined the segments appear to be and the harder it is to get the tapestry needle through**
